Dancing Maidens

Dancing Maidens by bahayla

Dancing Maidens, a photo by bahayla on Flickr.
This statue was originally located along the tour train route, in front of the Friendship Pond. It was knocked off of its pedestal in the mid-1990's by hooligan actors with the Haunted Forest (see photo below) and moved to a new location behind the Renaissance Garden. The first stanza of the poem  The World's Needs by Ella Wheeler Wilcox, engraved in the pedestal, reads:

So many gods
So many creeds,
So many paths that wind and wind
While just the art of being kind
is all this sad world needs.
